Residential Scheme
CODE FOR SUSTAINABLE HOMES
All new dwellings are assessed under The Code for Sustainable Homes which provides a rating with a level one dwelling the lowest requiring a score of 36. The highest rating at level six requires a score of 90 points.
BREEAM DOMESTIC REFURBISHMENT
All residential conversions or refurbishment projects are now assessed under the BREEAM “Domestic Refurbishment” scheme. This provides a building rating dependent on a percentage points score. This ranges from a Pass at 30% to Outstanding at 85%.
The assessment process is similar for all scheme types and can be carried out at pre-assessment, design stage and post construction. Where a commitment is provided either through planning or a funding organisation it is recommended that the Assessor is appointed at the commencement of the project.
